How auto-save works
The August 30 Early Access update added auto-save with a default interval of 45 minutes. You can adjust the interval or disable it in Gameplay Settings. An auto-save setting controls when progress is written; it does not guarantee recovery from a damaged or overwritten save.
If your character, gear, or perks disappeared
- Pause before creating more saves if the missing progress matters to you. This is cautious advice, not a developer-confirmed recovery step.
- Check the newest Steam update and the linked discussion for a shipped fix.
- Keep the affected save files and write down the missing gear or progress.
- Follow the developer’s instruction in the linked thread: send the save files and lost-gear list to the contact channel they provided there.
- Do not replace files with a download from an unknown site.
What the developer confirmed
In the public Steam discussion, the developer acknowledged the character-loss report, said the team could restore lost gear from submitted save files and a gear list, and provided the studio contact email in the thread. The same reply said a fix was expected that day. This page links to the thread so you can verify whether the status changed after our source check.
Co-op detail that matters
The reported reset occurred in a shared game where another player was hosting. The August 30 update separately fixed an issue that prevented late-joining players from using inventory or Quick Item Use. These are two different issues and should not be presented as one confirmed cause.
What this page does not claim
The public sources checked here do not publish a universal local save-file path, a guaranteed manual restore procedure, or proof that every missing character has the same cause. Avoid deleting or replacing files until the developer or a verified update gives instructions for your case.
