What the sources confirm

The Steam page says the maze does not stay still and describes spray, chalk, objects, old paper maps, and a compass. The developer’s official page says players can use spray, chalk, and notebooks, with permanent marks intended to support navigation and co-op coordination.

A practical marking convention

  1. At the entrance to a new area, leave one simple direction mark and write the layer or landmark in a notebook.
  2. At a junction, use different marks for “safe return,” “resource,” and “danger.” Keep the symbols simple enough for the whole team.
  3. Do not trust a mark by itself. Pair it with a nearby object or written clue because the official design explicitly allows misleading marks.
  4. When a teammate reports an exit or injector, record the observation and its confidence instead of turning a single sighting into a permanent map fact.

Why a screenshot map may go stale

A static map can be useful for landmarks, but it should not be presented as a guaranteed route. Steam describes a shifting maze and says a corridor may not return the same way. Any community map needs a build/date label.
